Project: Logistics and CDL-A Training for Youth and Young Adults

Project Overview: Project Catalyst for Renewal aims to provide logistics and CDL-A training for at-risk youth and young adults, ages 16 to 24, with a focus on those impacted by community violence and justice-involvement in Harris County, Texas. The project will combine workforce development in logistics and commercial driving with mentorship, leadership development, and post-program employment support to ensure sustainable career outcomes.

Goal: The primary goal is to equip 250 participants with logistics skills, CDL-A licenses, and leadership capabilities, positioning them for high-quality job opportunities in the logistics and trucking sectors.

Objectives:

1. Enroll 250 youth and young adults in a comprehensive CDL-A and logistics training program.
2. Provide each participant with paid work experience and mentorship opportunities.
3. Place a minimum of 75% of graduates in full-time logistics jobs or trucking positions.
4. Reduce recidivism rates and involvement in violent crime among participants by 10%.
5. Support participants through leadership and personal development sessions to strengthen decision-making, problem-solving, and professional skills.

Program Components:

• Training: CDL-A license preparation and logistics operations training through classroom, simulation, and behind-the-wheel components.
• Work Experience: Each participant will complete a minimum of 200 hours of paid work experience.
• Mentorship: One-on-one mentorship from industry professionals with lived experiences.
• Leadership Development: Workshops to improve soft skills, including conflict resolution, goal setting, teamwork, and leadership.
• Job Placement: Partner with local employers to place participants into long-term employment in logistics and transportation.

Target Population: Justice-involved and at-risk youth and young adults from high-poverty and high-crime areas in Harris County, particularly those impacted by community violence or with prior justice system contact.
